Beaches

Buck Island: A Diver's delight! This uninhabited island lies 1.5 miles off the northeast side of St. Croix. Enjoy its 176 acres via a nature trail, underwater reef trail, or one of its beautiful beaches. A haven for endangered brown pelicans and a nesting area for three species of sea turtles. Two-thirds of the island is surrounded by a coral barrier reef (the largest in the Caribbean), which includes a Marine Garden Area, both closed to fishing. Visit the world's only underwater National Park!

Cane Bay Beach: "Jump off the Wall" at this excellent diving and snorkeling spot on the northwest coast on Route 80. About a quarter-mile offshore, the depth plunges dramatically to 1000 feet, providing world-class diving opportunities. Beautiful sandy beach, crystal-clear water, restaurant and dive center.

The Beach at Hotel on the Cay: A very short ferry ride away (about two minutes) from Christiansted Harbor lies Protestant Cay, Home of the Hotel on the Cay. The sandy islet beach is a great swimming and sunning spot with a fantastic view looking back at picturesque Christiansted. Lunch and drinks are served beachside, Sundays feature a steel band on the beach. Watersport equipment also available for rent.

Reef Beach: Windsurfing haven and a local favorite offering soft white sand, watersport equipment and lounge chairs for rent, a great restaurant on shore and plenty of shady spots for picnics. On the East End of the Island on Route 82.


Cruzan Rum Distillery

Take an adventure and travel back in time with a trip to the historic Cruzan Rum Distillery, located in the heart of St. Croix. Tour the distillery and experience the history and workmanship involved in this centuries-old trade.

Upon your arrival, you will be drawn into the factory by the sweet aromas sweeping through the air. Friendly guides will lead you as they recount its role in St. Croix's history, explain how the industry has evolved over the centuries and show you how Cruzan Rum is made today. You will learn the difference between white rum and gold rum and how varying proofs are achieved.
